Perhaps a whole new build could be developed around this idea... an AoE caster who's job it is to disrupt enemy mobs, keep them unfocused and scattered. Like I said before... a mob that's running is a mob that isn't hurting anybody. It would get a little annoying for warriors though if they never sit still I suppose.

Alright, I'll admit it. I suggested this idea over a month ago.
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...2&postcount=30
I think the main reason that certain people are applauding this idea is becuase Guildwars PvE is (or was) really only boiled down to this:
Step 1: Tank Gathers Aggro.
Step 2: Elementalists Meteor Storm/Fire Storm the crap out of it.
Step 3: Repeat.
I think people here want some harder PvE and that's what they like about the update...
Though I do believe, like I said earlier, Anet went to far. And people definaly have valid points when the say entire skills lines were rendered useless. Personally, I need a trip down to Fissure or UW before I can really make up my mind on whether I like the new update more than I hate it.

Not saying teamwork wasn't part of the game (my words said that, it was a poor choice of words on my part.)
Ever see the groups for 1 tank, 1 monk, 2 nukers? Now that group will need to bring a Snare..r or something. It opens up party options, and encourages NEW builds in PvE. I failed immensely in stating that in my original post, but that is my point. Now there will be (hopefully) new strategies emerging in PvE. I don't see how that's a bad thing.

The best sollution to the virgoods problem, imho? Introduce gold rewards for quests and the like (only for new quests, of course). This will make the distribution of wealth more equal for most PVE players and making bots that finish quests will be hard. And the sweatshop farmers will only be able to do farm gold from quests once per character (obliging them to level a character up if they want to do it more often).
|
Adding more gold increases inflation. But the idea about nice juciy gold rewards that are non-repeatiable are a good idea that make the bots harder to catach up.

Well this isn't WoW. The AI doesn't use that kind of "threat" system to pick targets. Perhaps "if your monk is getting pummeled" would've been a better example.

Well Im Leaving You all for tonight........i was hyped up at rage at first over this update but this is what i will say finally and i hope all of you (including a net will take it to heart)
WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES AND MAJORITY RULES
im sure a net will realize with a majority of people hatin this update they will have to take it away yet keeping the henchies evading aoe is pretty good.
dont flame guys and just list why you think this update is good or bad. remember a net reads these forums unlike other games were mods dont care a **** about what their players think...
and to anet:
i love guildwars anet and i still have to thank you for the halloween update but imo i believe this is a mega nerf and should be mega reversed thats my tupence and hopefully you will come to terms with me and a majority of the guildwars community. this update only makes the rich richer and the poor poor for life. if this update was meant to nerf farming plez explain to us why farming is bad since i have no way to get money otherwise to buy my 80k monk superior runes or my like 200k+ armor or any of that stuff
GOOD NITE GUYS AND DONT LET THE FLAME BUGS BITE IF A NET DOESNT MAKE THE RITE DECESION THEY WILL LOOSE CUSTOMERS AND IF THEY FIX IT PEOPLE WILL COME BACK AND WE WILL HAVE PROVEN THE POINT THAT ALL HUMANS MAKE MISTAKES!

I would love it if people on the pro-update side of this debate would stop oversimplifying the anti-update side to: an unwillingness to use our brains. There are good arguments on both sides... try reading them.

Yeah man, and that ain't too much fun. Btw, you're in my guild! (This is Rich)
I'm not too happy with the update. Since they nerfed my shield selling business, farming was my way of income, and it was fun, but now I can't do it anymore, because everything runs away from me!

Well I'm a PvE only player and like I said on page 1, I use a fire ele but am pleased with this change - I only went fire as trying to use any of the other elements mean't getting in a group was nie on impossible - everyone wanted an echo nuker and that was it. Now hopefully I can explore the strength's of the other elements and actually get into group's to try them out (my ele is already set up so I can switch headgear to use 16 attribute points in any element, have all 4 max green staffs and every ele skill and elite available).
BTW if you think about it AoE spells can still be very effective - just take a ranger with crippling shot (spammable as low cost/fast recharge), pin down, barbed trap and/or spike trap and let them go first - result monsters are crippled so can't get out of the AoE very fast.
All this change really needs is a bit of thought, teamwork and a more diverse character party and it'll be fine.
